Our unique model allows Calrossy to maximise student learning and growth at the vital and formative stage of early adolescence.

Students in Calrossy 7–9 learn in Independent Boy and Girl classes, and in single-sex mentor groups on the William Cowper Campus where we maintain a focus on small class sizes and personalised tuition to suit each student's individual learning needs and styles.

We aim to develop confident and courageous learners in inspiring and supportive single gender classrooms. This is deliberately done to increase student participation, self-confidence, academic and social growth and success.

One of the many benefits of single-sex education in these years is that our teachers can target teaching, behaviour management, support and wellbeing in the classroom. As young teenagers, our 7-9 students are liberated from any gender expectations, allowing for safe and positive participation which promotes focus, engagement and learning.

Other benefits of Calrossy 7-9;

  • Belong to an inclusive, nurturing Christian community committed to academic excellence with distinctive school values aimed at growing students who are full of hope and who act as agents of change that matters.
  • The single-sex model promotes courage and a "can do attitude" with appropriate development cohorts learning together.
  • Real commitment by academic staff for the success of their students. Calrossy's academic team remains at the forefront of teaching with a dedicated Director of Teaching and Learning.
  • The Calrossy structure is seen as an approach which not only gets the very best from students, but also from teaching staff, as they are able to tailor their professional techniques and lessons for girls and boys.
  • Students receive timetabled after school assistance for help with study, assessments and homework.
  • Be part of a school with proven academic success. Calrossy has consistently been the best performing school in the HSC in the New England and North West based on top band results as a percentage of the cohort. This includes Top 10 in the State placings in recent years in Biology, Music, Physics, CAFS, Investigating Science, Agriculture and Primary Industries.
  • Diverse co-curricular and academic pathways and opportunities to extend learning and explore interests and discover new ones, including Cattle, Chess, Equestrian, Science & Engineering, Music ensembles, Inter-School debating, HRIS sporting pathways and much more.
  • Access to proven established Wellbeing programs and staff, including school psychologists and Leaders of Wellbeing for each year.
