In 2025, Calrossy’s Year 10 students are set to benefit from a powerful trio of programs designed to build confidence, financial literacy, and real-world resilience:
Lifeskills Academy – Sponsored by Forsyths
Common Ground Program – Strengthening Wellbeing and Leadership
Mel Harries Workshops – Empowering Young People with Life Lessons
Together, these initiatives provide a holistic approach to preparing our students for life beyond school, covering financial literacy, leadership, independence, and personal development.
Lifeskills Academy – Financial Knowledge for a Strong Future
Generously sponsored by Forsyths , the Lifeskills Academy is an engaging digital course developed by The Tiny Foxes . It provides students with essential life administration and financial skills to help them navigate their first major milestones with confidence.
Topics include:
Managing bank accounts, resumes, and payslips
Budgeting, saving, and avoiding debt
Understanding rent, tenancy agreements, and bonds
Making informed financial decisions early
Calrossy students are already excited to dive into this program, gaining real-world financial knowledge that will set them up for long-term success. Forsyths’ financial experts will also join selected sessions, bringing industry insights and real-world expertise to our classrooms.
Common Ground – Strengthening Leadership and Wellbeing
Alongside financial literacy, social and emotional skills are just as crucial for life beyond school. That’s where the Common Ground Program comes in—a transformational leadership and wellbeing initiative that helps students build:
Confidence and resilience
Emotional intelligence and personal awareness
Stronger relationships and leadership skills
By developing these foundational life skills, students leave with a greater sense of self-awareness, respect for others, and tools to manage life’s challenges.
Mel Harries Workshops – Practical Lessons for Independence
Adding another layer of real-life readiness , students will also take part in Mel Harries’ workshops , which focus on practical independence skills . Covering key aspects of communication, self-reliance, and transitioning into adulthood , these sessions are designed to empower students with the knowledge and confidence to take ownership of their future.
