Young people are the future – and the future is now! That’s the powerful theme guiding this year’s Youth Week 2025, and Calrossy is proud to have several students playing a leading role in bringing it to life as part of the Tamworth Regional Youth Council.
The Youth Council plays a vital role in shaping the region’s Youth Strategy Action Plan – celebrating progress, identifying new priorities, and ensuring that the voices of young people are heard and valued. Among this passionate group are Calrossy students:
Luke Suter (Deputy Mayor), Bronte Gillan, Megan Carr, Skye Vaughan, Ella McWilliam, Avalya Matthew, Eva-Mae Davies and Edward Duggan (Alumni).
This week has been packed with exciting, inclusive and youth-led events planned by the Council, including:
- Tamworth’s Got Talent & Youth Disco
- Skate & Novelty Sports Competition
- Comedy Workshop
- Public Speaking & Creative Expression Competition
- Youth Week Trivia Night.
For Calrossy Year 11 student Bronte Gillan , being on the Youth Council is a chance to make real change:
“I believe it’s essential for youth to have a platform to share their voices and express their thoughts on the issues that affect us, especially in our rural town… I’m passionate about advocating for mental health and creating an environment where young people feel safe, heard, and supported.”
Calrossy is incredibly proud of these young leaders who are giving back to the community with courage, compassion and commitment. Their involvement is a true reflection of the confidence, leadership and community-minded spirit that defines our School.
