Alice Milson Named Local Legend
In a world where small actions make a big impact, Alice Milson is leading the charge for change. This Calrossy community champion has been recognised with the prestigious Tamworth Regional Council Local Legends Award for Excellence in Sustainability, shining a spotlight on her remarkable efforts to protect the environment and inspire others to do the same.
From advocating for Tamworth’s water security to turning unwanted goods into treasures, Alice’s dedication knows no bounds. As the driving force behind the Tamworth Water Security Alliance, she’s become a familiar face at local markets, a voice in the media, and the visionary behind initiatives like the Water Week Tamworth Open Gardens Trail—all in the name of a sustainable future.
Alice’s passion for repurposing and waste reduction is evident in her work rescuing unwanted goods and spearheading initiatives like ‘Bread Tags for Wheelchairs.’ As a dedicated Landcare volunteer, she tirelessly works to restore local environments, and her efforts inspire others to join the cause.
At Calrossy, Alice is a beloved mentor and role model. For years, she has worked in the boarding community, sharing her enthusiasm for sustainability by introducing students to op-shopping and encouraging the donation of unused stationery to those in need. Her passion for preserving history has also led her to become the new face of the Calrossy Archives, where she curates and enriches the School’s remarkable collection of memorabilia.
Alice Milson embodies the values of selflessness, resilience, and integrity at the heart of Calrossy’s ethos. Her recognition as a Local Legend not only celebrates her individual achievements but also reinforces the importance of community, sustainability, and care for future generations.
Congratulations, Alice, on this well-deserved honour!
