A Journey of Excellence: From Prep to Dux
From a curious Prep student in 2011 to a confident graduate in 2024, Alistair Scott’s educational journey exemplifies the transformative power of a holistic and nurturing learning environment. Over 13 years, Alistair has flourished academically, creatively, and as a leader, embracing every opportunity to grow into the accomplished young man he is today. His journey highlights the enduring impact of a supportive community, dedicated teachers, and a School committed to fostering excellence at every stage.
Alistair’s academic record is outstanding, he was Calrossy's Primary School Dux in 2018 and has now been named the Dux of the Class of 2024. As a 2024 All-Round Achiever, he earned top band results in 14 HSC units, including Chemistry, Mathematics Extension 2, Music 2, and Society and Culture. His academic success is complemented by his many accolades this year, including being named the recipient of the prestigious New College UNSW Pathway to University Access Prize, reflecting his academic excellence and future potential.
But Alistair’s success extends far beyond the classroom. A talented musician, he has been a regular in all of Calrossy’s music ensembles, providing musical accompaniment to countless school events and performances. Whether playing piano or leading a group, Alistair’s contributions to the school’s music program have been inspiring and invaluable
Alistair has also shone as a leader, serving as House Captain for Cuthbert House and leading the green and gold team to victory in both House Music and the House Trophy for 2024. A regular participant in school debates, Alistair has honed his ability to think critically and argue persuasively—skills that will serve him well in his future ambitions.
Not surprisingly, Alistair is now looking to pursue a career in law and will begin that dream next year at the University of New South Wales. His ability to combine academic brilliance, creative talent, and leadership skills suggests a bright future ahead, where he will undoubtedly make his mark.
Reflecting on his time at Calrossy, Alistair shared:
“It’s not just about the academics. I’ve had so many fantastic teachers and opportunities over the years, and the support I’ve received from the Calrossy community has been incredible. I’ll always be grateful for the foundation this school has given me.”
