At the heart of every great school is a community of dedicated individuals working tirelessly behind the scenes, and at Calrossy Anglican School, this is embodied by our remarkable Parents & Friends (P & F) Association. From the classrooms of Prep to Year 12 and beyond, this dynamic group of parent volunteers has been the backbone of our School community and reflect Calrossy’s Christian commitment to acts of kindness and support.

The P & F members , who represent parents and supporters, focus on building opportunities that bring the Calrossy community together. Their efforts extend far beyond fundraising—they are the very foundation of the School’s culture of inclusivity and selflessness, two of Calrossy’s core values. Their work demonstrates the School’s commitment to nurturing "Creators of Hope and Change that Matters," as outlined in our mission.

Since 2014, the P & F has reinvested over $225,520 into Calrossy, a sum that speaks volumes about the generosity and community spirit within the School community.

Their support touches every corner of Calrossy, from practical projects like installing dozens of outdoor tables, shade shelters, cold-water bubblers, Prep playground extension and the Caravan of Courage, to enhancing learning spaces such as the Tangara Trade Training Centre. This network of people who selflessly put up their hand to help has also been the driving force behind events such as Colour Runs, Golf Days, Cracker Carnivals, Movie Nights, and so much more.

But their work doesn’t stop there. The P & F’s commitment to enhancing student experiences extends beyond material contributions. They have actively supported students in cultural and academic pursuits, including facilitating attendance at IPSHA events, and partnering with the Student Representative Council to create lasting spaces for learning and reflection—most notably the tiered outdoor space in front of the Bishop Peter Chiswell Hall.

The P & F’s dedication has also been recognised by the wider community, including the Tamworth Regional Council Volunteer Awards, where they were honoured for donating between 800 to 1,200 hours annually in service not only to Calrossy but to the broader Tamworth community. This is a true testament to the spirit of selflessness that the P & F exemplifies in their outreach, including supporting local organisations such as Tamworth Rugby Union and the NSW Rural Fire Service. Working with our Boarding Parents we have undertaken projects across the Boarding Houses and the Simpson House “blitz” was a great day along with other projects to make the Boarding House feel more like home such as the Simms House common room.

In a tribute to their ongoing work, 2024 P & F President, Andrew Yeo, reflected, “It’s incredible to think that in 10 years, we’ve contributed close to a quarter of a million dollars to projects that improve the School and enhance student life. It’s proof that a little help from many can make a big difference. We’re so proud to build on the work of those dedicated members of our community and to be a part of that."

Calrossy Principal, David Smith, echoed this sentiment, stating, “The P & F are integral to the life of Calrossy. Their tireless work brings the community together and creates lasting benefits for our students. Their leadership, especially in supporting mental health initiatives like the upcoming Shanna Whan event in partnership with our R U OK committee, is just one example of the ways they continue to give back.”

The work of the P & F truly reflects Calrossy’s vision of creating a connected and giving community, where every member has a role to play in making change that matters. Through their dedication, they show us all what it means to live with purpose and to serve others selflessly—a legacy that will benefit Calrossy students and families for generations to come.

A Connected and Giving Community

The P & F’s efforts highlight the strong partnerships between Calrossy parents, staff, and students—a reflection of the School’s philosophy of “Learning in Partnership,” where collaboration and community are central to student success.

Their commitment to the School’s mission, not only in financial terms but through their “gift of time,” brings the Calrossy community together in ways that profoundly enhance the educational experience of every student.

School Development Coordinator Michael Wilson said "working alongside the P & F and watching how they support and engage with the community through their willingness to support our School is a privilege. The P & F has supported the School Centenary, New Zealand Rugby Tours, Alumni events such as Red v Blue. They have even rolled up their sleeves and worked with the fantastic Calrossy catering crew to cook many BBQs. The P & F have been involved in recent major decisions such as the uniform change and they have driven communication on the 2021 School Campus model changes. While also being strong advocates through the 2024 Master Plan process that is to be released along with hosting parent forums to give parents an opportunity to ask questions and be actively involved in the conversation. I can’t thank all the current and past P & F executive and supporters enough and I am looking forward to working with you well into the future as we continue to make change that matters."

As we look towards the future, the P & F’s involvement will undoubtedly continue to shape the growth of Calrossy. Their contribution is not just about creating better facilities or events; it’s about nurturing a spirit of resilience, integrity, selflessness and inclusiveness that embodies what Calrossy stands for.  And for that, we owe our heartfelt thanks.

To every parent, every volunteer, and everyone who has taken on executive roles for the Calrossy P & F, we say thank you. Your work ensures that Calrossy remains not just a place of academic excellence, but a community where everyone belongs and contributes to a brighter, more hopeful future.
