For Kate and Daniel Campbell, choosing the right school for their children was a significant decision. With Henry now thriving in Year 2 and Max set to start Prep next year, the Campbells are confident they made the right choice with Calrossy Junior School.

Kate, an alumna of Calrossy, graduating in 2002 as Kate Agnew, fondly remembers her own time at the school. Her positive experiences played a crucial role in the family's decision.

"I had a wonderful secondary school experience at Calrossy, and this certainly formed part of our decision to send our children to Calrossy Junior School," she said.

"A tour of the school and appreciation of the resources on offer cemented our decision."

The Campbells were particularly drawn to the smaller class sizes at Calrossy, believing it fosters a more personal approach to learning.

"We chose Calrossy for our children primarily due to the smaller class sizes which we believe facilitate a personal approach to learning," said Kate.

Their decision has paid off. Henry is flourishing in the supportive environment, and the entire family is impressed by the School's dedication to student development.

"We have been extremely happy with our Calrossy experience. The teachers are enthusiastic, and the resources are wonderful. We feel like there is a real investment in Henry's learning and overall development by staff," Kate shared.

One of the aspects the Campbells appreciate most about Calrossy is the opportunity for students to explore a wide range of interests. In the Junior School students have access to a diverse range of activities within and beyond the classroom, from art, cooking, animation, chess, dance, lego, debating, garden, science club, public speaking alongside regular Chrisitan, PDHPE, music and Japanese lessons.

"We feel that the opportunities to explore interests and find new ones are beneficial so that our children can begin learning laterally. It's also nice to undertake activities at school that aren't part of the household's ordinary routine - there is only so much time in the day!" Kate noted.

Henry's own words capture his experience perfectly: "Learning, active, comforting." His enthusiasm is evident when he responds to the daily question of how his day went with a cheerful "great!"

The smooth transition from Prep to Kindergarten also stands out as a highlight for the Campbells. "We found the transition from Prep to Kindergarten extremely smooth and continue to be impressed with the quality and diversity of education provided," Kate remarked.

Calrossy places a strong emphasis on smooth transitions at key stages in a child's educational journey. From Prep to Kindergarten, Infants to Primary, Year 6 to Year 7, and eventually to the HSC years, our structured programs and dedicated support ensure that students move confidently and securely through each phase. These transitions are underpinned by a focus on developing both academic and social skills, fostering resilience and adaptability. Our well-established programs and nurturing environment help students build a solid foundation, promoting their confidence and ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. This is why so many parents are choosing Calrossy earlier in their children’s education to ensure they don’t miss out on these vital transitions.

The Campbell family is happy to recommend Calrossy to their friends. "We are more than happy to recommend Calrossy to our friends," Kate said. "The smaller class sizes and personal approach to learning are two points of difference between Calrossy and other local primary schools."

A Christian family the Campbell’s also welcomed this aspect of Calrossy and the School's values and community spirit.

As Max prepares to join his brother at Calrossy, the Campbells look forward to continuing their journey with a school that values each child's individual growth and learning, with a focus on holistic education.
