Imagine a school day where students discover new passions, explore fresh opportunities, and unlock hidden talents - all in just one hour a week.
It’s happening at Calrossy Anglican School. We are thrilled to announce the launch of the XP Program, an innovative and action-packed initiative that will take student learning beyond the classroom. Designed for Years 5 to 9, this exciting pilot program offers students the chance to discover new passions, sharpen their skills, and dive into a world of diverse activities—all during the school day. Whether it’s coding, cattle handling, ceramics, film making, bush tucker, RFS Cadets, St Johns Ambulance Cadets, music or dance, there’s something for everyone to explore, experiment with, and excel in.
We are calling it the XP Program, a dynamic initiative designed to offer students in Years 5 to 9 an unparalleled opportunity to explore, experiment, and engage with a diverse range of co-curricular activities, with more than 60 activities on offer for student selection.
“Students will participate in a carefully curated XP Activity for one hour each week over the course of a term, before rotating to a new activity,” shares Deputy Principal, Kelli Cato.
“Calrossy is committed to engaging our students in a broad range of activities that inspire creativity, leadership, and personal growth,” says Mrs Cato.
“The XP Program aligns perfectly with our vision to nurture well-rounded individuals who are confident, capable, and ready to contribute to their communities.”
What activities actually run will be decided by student voice. Students have had the chance to select their top four activity preferences, plus reserves, ensuring that their individual interests are prioritised. The School will then schedule and allocate activities based on student demand and availability. Mixed groups across year levels and genders will encourage collaboration and shared experiences.
“By offering such a broad selection of activities, we’re giving our students the chance to step outside their comfort zones and try something completely new,” explains our Director of Studies, Matthew Frazer.
“It’s not just about learning new skills; it’s about building confidence and fostering a sense of belonging.”
The name "XP" reflects the Program’s core goals:
- eXPlore new knowledge
- eXPeriment with new skills
- Have new shared eXPeriences
- eXPand career options
- eXPress creativity and individuality
- Showcase newfound eXPertise.

Building the Future Together
The XP Program exemplifies Calrossy’s commitment to providing innovative, engaging, and holistic education.
“As a School, we value opportunities that allow students to develop not only academically but socially and emotionally,” explains Mrs Cato.
“XP is about more than activities; it’s about enriching lives and fostering a sense of purpose. Parents and students can expect detailed schedules and activity allocations at the start of the 2025 school year,” says Mr Frazer.
Calrossy looks forward to seeing the impact of the XP Program as students embrace this new journey of discovery and growth.
